General Description of Application

Traffic Manager is an Order Based Small business Application designed specifically to manage the day to day operations of a product or service delivery business using hand-held PDAs.  The initial application design will be implemented in New York City, The delivery area covered will be the Boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The primary objective of Traffic Manager's development will be to facilitate the day to day order taking and subsequent delivery of products and services to the Business' customer base while maintaining an "at-a-glance" perspective of up-to-the-minute results and happenings during the delivery time frame, as well as, recording, categorizing, and prioritizing pertinent data relevant to the day's events.

The design of Traffic Manager will incorporate expeditious efficient delivery concepts and proven strategies with an uncompromising and unprecedented emphasis on it's delivery team's and customer's security, while offering the User precise "at a glance" up-to-the-minute knowledge, and relief from difficult multi-tasking.  A well conceived system of checks and balances designed to minimize operational and administrative challenges will mitigate instances of human error, resulting in increased business productivity and expanded customer satisfaction.

Traffic Manager is designed for operation by a "Dispatcher" who will take orders by telephone, then enter the orders into the application where information can be easily dispatched to the "deliverers" on the street and on the fly.  Traffic Manager will use the customer's 10 Digit telephone number as its Customer ID number.

Traffic Manager will give the dispatcher "at a glance" information about the entire goings on of the work day, while tallying data submitted by the individual "deliverers" and/or the dispatcher himself.  The deliverers will submit the result of each delivery by the execution and completion of Customer Order forms initiated by the dispatcher.  Upon the completion of the orders the Dispatcher will have easy access to Deliverer's "cash on hand" and inventory totals, as well as, the customer data/profiles and ALL information relevant to outstanding incomplete orders for ALL Deliverers.

Deliverers will submit completed order results via SMS text messaging for tally and update by the Main Dispatch Application.  The Dispatcher will send delivery information such as Name, Address, and Telephone numbers to the deliverers via SMS Text Messaging.  The Deliverers will relay ALL completed Order results via Text Messaging to the Dispatcher's App.  Dispatcher will have the option of "drag and drop", or drop down menu dispatching, by pairing the Deliverers with the Outstanding Customer Orders.  As the Dispatcher pairs Deliverers with Outstanding Orders the Application will instantly send Customer Info via SMS to the Deliverers.  Further detail will follow as to the intricacies of SMS communications and interfacing with the Traffic Manager Application.

The Main Dispatch App will be stored on the Dispatcher's "Touch-Screen" PDA while the Deliverer's will communicate with the Traffic Manager via SMS Messaging on their HandHeld devices.  Upon completion of each order, data will be tallied and orders will be closed out.  Tallied results will be stored and encrypted on the Main dispatch app for future profiling and bookkeeping.
